(updated 5-10-2010)
Celebrating their 50th Anniversary, their new website presents about all you could ask for in information and pictures. I have read much about the company from the web pages, and I must say I am impressed with their bullet manufacturing processes.

(From their brochure) "Berry's Mfg. has been a family business for over 30 years. We started out specializing in lead bullets only.
About ten years ago, we got into plastic molding business, and in the last few years, we also started making copper plated bullets. We did this because of the new government regulations and health concerns about lead bullets. Our customers needed cleaner, plated bullets required by indoor ranges.
We now manufacture over thirty types of quality plated bullets, called T.L.F.J. bullets. " (They also have regular Jacketed bullets as of 2010)
The bullets featured in the brochure start with a .30 cal., 110 gr. RN for carbine. Then they jump to a .380 auto, 95 gr. RN and on to the 9mm's, 38/.357's, 10mm/40, .41, .44 and .45 calibers including a nice 250 gr. FP for the .45 Colt.
I just got a really neat .32 caliber, 83 grain HBWC, copper plated bullet. Yes, a long hollow base wadcutter for the .32 caliber guns.
I suggest you call them for a brochure or visit online.
Fred Wooldridge has added a complete line of plated bullets to their current line of
"hardcast" lead bullets. They have bullets from 9mm and .38 up to .45 Colt. The
.38 Wad Cutter looks like a great bullet and completely sealed with a copper plating;
it would be ideal for indoor target shooting.
Fred has sent me a nice variety of bullets to test, but as I am in the process of
changing households, my reloading equipment is packed for a couple of months.
I hope to load and test some soon.
These bullets appear to be sized particularly well, which I can't say about all
the plated bullets I have tried in the past.
Speer Bullets, RCBS Reloading Equipment, CCI Primers, Outers, Weaver Scopes
are all a part of BLOUNT, Inc. Their main number for a catalog on any product is
1-800-627-3640. Speer makes a wide range of bullets in every caliber you are likely
to need. Their series features the "Gold Dot", "Uni-Cor", "Grand Slam", and "Hot-Cor"
types of construction. In .30 caliber, they still make the "Plinker" which is a lead bullet
that sits in a copper "cup" and is inexpensive and great for low-recoil shooting of
that favorite .30 caliber rifle.
Hornady has a catalog that is free for the asking. You can reach
them at their toll free number. Bob Palmer was very helpful when I called him.
In the front of Hornady's catalog is a message from President,
Steve Hornady: "1996 is an exciting year of innovation for
Hornady Manufacturing. In addition to introducing new calibers
of our Light Magnum(tm) ammunition, we are introducing new Heavy
Magnum(tm), which delivers enhanced performance advantages from
magnum rifles. We're also proud to introduce the all-velocity
V-MAX(tm) varmint bullet and Varmint Express(tm)(VX(tm))
ammunition - - the results of years of industry-leading experience
in varmint bullet technology combined with the very latest in
state-of-the-art computer engineering. Try these new products
out for yourself. And drop us a line and tell us what you think."
From Steve Hornady: "2010 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for Hornady. Now in our 61st year of business we are proud to unveil what we believe is one of the most significant advancements in ammunition in the past century. SuperformanceTM ammunition utilizes a new propellant technology developed in cooperation between Hornady® and our powder supplier, and delivers as much as 200 fps more muzzle velocity with our SST® and GMX® bullets than current factory ammunition."
Very well done web site and complete listing of their bullets and much info about the
company. They have a unique line of Varmint bullets with the "Polycarbonate tip,
nestled in the jacket mouth, color coded by caliber." They make for a very interesting
look and as Nosler says, "assures violent expansion at either end of the velocity scale. "
Remington has a HUGE catalog of Firearms (Muzzle Loader and Conventional) and accessories, Ammunition and bullets and all kinds of accessories. I suggest you call
the toll free number for a free catalog or see your local sporting goods dealer. It's free and it
is packed full of goodies, especially for the Black Powder shooter.
Winchester has a very complete free catalog of their Loaded ammunition, brass, powder, bullets, primers,
and other reloading components for rifle, handgun and shotgun. Regarding their bullets, Winchester says:
"Winchester Supreme, Fail Safe rifle and Super-X Silvertip handgun bullets are available in popular
calibers and bullet weights to achieve the same high-performance, on target results delivered by the
factory loads."
Have a selection of special types of bullets, mostly jacketed.
This is the PLATED bullet company. Lead or lead base bullets can put lead vapors in the air
when fired. Lead inhaled can stay in your body for 40 years and damage your liver and brain.
Copper plated bullets minimize lead vapor in the air. At the firing line, lead vapor from regular lead
may be in the range of 43 micrograms compared to 1.7 micrograms for plated bullets. On indoor ranges,
don't forget a LOT of lead vapor comes from the bullet hitting the backstop and splattering. All lead bullets
will produce this effect except at special indoor ranges with special backstops and ventilation. Still, the more
you cut down on vapors, the better and the bullets look pretty also. Rainier used a SWAGED bullet instead
of a hot-cast bullet. This means formed from lead wire instead of poured into a mould. Then the bullets are
copper electroplated completely. GUN WORLD and GUNS and AMMO magazines have had nice things to
say about the accuracy of these bullets.
The People at Accurate Powder Company in McEwen, Tennessee have worked up a number of loads
for these bullets. I talked with Ted Curtis when I noticed the loads for the same weight bullet were different
for these plated bullets as compared with the same weight lead or jacketed bullet. He said that all bullets
act differently. He was sure plated CAST bullets would behave differently from the Rainier plated bullets that
are Swaged. So they don't act like any other bullet and the loads from Accurate are just a bit LOWER than the
loads for the same weight cast lead or jacketed bullet. I don't have space here for examples, but in the future, I may include some loads in my individual caliber loads tables. For now,
I suggest you use at least 10% less than the same bullet weight in the tables and work
up from there. I am impressed with the company and these bullets, even though I have not
tried any yet. I plan to soon.
